Dreyfus Ashby is proud to debut the Cloudline Cellars Oregon Pinot Gris.
The inaugural production, from the excellent 2005 vintage, is limited
to 2,500 cases and reinforces the high-value reputation that Cloudline
Cellars already enjoys due to the runaway success of its Oregon Pinot
Noir. Vinified under the careful eye of consulting winemaker Véronique
Drouhin-Boss, the 2005 Cloudline Pinot Gris is made in a classic dry style
with a lovely balance of ripe fruit and vibrant acidity. It was bottled
under screwcap and arrives just in time for summer. Enjoy!
Tasting Notes:
The 2005 Cloudline Pinot Gris is an intense but light golden yellow color.
A rush of citrus fruits and white flowers, both in the nose and on the
palate, combine to make this a wine of pure pleasure. With excellent texture
and a strong lift from the acidity, it suggests food pairings with every
sip. Try it with most shellfish, cheeses, ceviche, sushi, and spicy cuisine
such as Thai and Indian.
Oregon 2005
An extraordinarily dry winter and a very wet spring led to a longer than
usual flowering period. By summer, Oregon had fallen into a more normal
weather pattern, though clearly this would be another vintage of quality
not quantity. Harvest proved to be something of a chess match with nature,
but those who waited were rewarded with gorgeous picking conditions in
October. The fruit that came in was uniformly excellent, boding well for
the debut of our Pinot Gris.
