Château d’Anglès

Château d’Anglès - La Clape - Languedoc

White, red and rosé
Developed from the Bourboulenc grape (also known as Malvoisie), the Château d'Anglès white wines have a pale yellow body with a highly elegant lemony and slightly flinty aroma. Smaller amounts of Marsanne, Roussanne and white Grenache add an extra floral and fruity complex.

The red wines are made from Mourvèdre giving them longevity and full-bodied tannins , Syrah for its blackcurrant flavours, the Grenache Noir adding smoothness & a touch of Carignan for its personality.

The Château d'Anglès rosé is made of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache and immediately conjures up hot summer days with cicadas chirping away in the background. It is supple and round with raspberry, peach and citrus aromas.

"La Clape is the only appellation based on the Bourboulenc grape. It brings freshness and structure and makes the reputation of La Clape for white wines. It is half of this blend together with Grenache for its fruit and a dash of Roussanne and Marsanne for additional complexity." - Eric Fabre

"This was a fine set of releases from proprietors Eric and Vianney Fabre".

Slightly more modern in style, the 2012 La Clape Grand Vin is sensational blend of 55% Mourevdre, 25% Syrah, 15% Grenache and 5% Carignan. Completely destemmed, it saw a whopping 50 day maceration before having the Syrah and Mourevdre moved to 225-Liter barrels (33% new) and the Grenache to vat, where it stayed for a year. At that point, it was all blended together, and moved to vat for another 12 months before being bottled with no fining or filtration. It exhibits lots of creme de cassis and black raspberry fruit to go with subtle oak (which fades with time in the glass), melted licorice and graphite. This gives way to a medium-bodied, pure, elegant red that has gorgeous purity of fruit, a great mid-palate and fine tannin that emerges on the finish. This is high quality juice that can be enjoyed now, or cellared for 4-5 years, possibly longer. This was a fine set of releases from proprietors Eric and Vianney Fabre.
