South Africa's wine culture is rooted in the classic "Old World" styles of France, Germany and Italy, but with one foot in the more contemporary approaches of Californian and Australian winemaking. Because of this joining of old and new philosophies, South African wine offers the best of both worlds, bringing new flavor experiences to traditional wine varieties. Most South African wine production is concentrated near Cape Town.
