India's heat and humidity play a key role in determining the winemaking techniques found here, from increasing canopy cover to protect from sun damage, to frequent pruning due to the tropical climate's high yields. India is home to several indigenous grape varieties, including Anabeshahi, Arkavati and Arkashyam, but imported varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel are beginning to grow in popularity.
