The Environment Minister of the Catalan government, Francesc Baltassar, and representatives from the Climate Group and Foment del Treball (employers\'s organization) attended the dinner offered by Torres on the occasion of the Barcelona Climate Change Talks.

Those invited to the event (approximately 80 people made up of politicians, civil servants, company representatives and environmental specialists) were able to personally meet the winery\'s chairman, Miguel A. Torres, as well as getting to know Torres\' environmental policy and commitment to combating climate change. The Catalan Minister of Environment, Francesc Baltasar, the Welsh Minister of Environment, Jane Davidson, and the Climate Group director, Mark Kenbe, also spoke a few words thanking Torres for his hospitality.

The Barcelona Talks are the last meeting before the Copenhagen Conference. Bodegas Torres has been chosen to contribute to the working report which will be distributed at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, to take place in the Danish capital from 7 to 18 December.

The report, drawn up by Responding To Climate Change (official United Nations observer), will show the latest advances in combating climate change (technologies, products, services, research, environmental policies, etc.) and will include examples of a number of organisations that stand out for their commitment to the environment, among which Torres is the only winery.

The ecological record of Bodegas Torres is known and valued internationally. Some months ago, the prestigious English magazine Drinks Business ranked Torres at number 17 (the first winery) on its Green List. This list contains the 50 most important entities (people, organisations or firms) in combating climate change worldwide. Moreover ComputerWorld, one of the most widely circulated magazines in the information and communication technology industry, gave Torres its Sustainability 2008 award as a company committed to such an important and delicate issue as climate change.
