Bottega del Vino Re-opens with an assist from Tedeschi...
With all probability, you may have heard about the closure of the historic Bottega del Vino in Verona. The news came out at the end August and it was immediately spread by newspapers and magazines. It deeply touched the world of wine lovers for which the historic wine-restaurant from Verona has been a reference point for the most prestigious wine labels. Founded in 1890, the Bottega del Vino has accompanied Vinitaly and the Arena theatre seasons for decades, offering not only major wine labels but excellent traditional dishes of Verona. This historical restaurant has its soul deeply rooted in the life of the city.
Therefore it is with enormous joy that we announce the re-opening of the wine restaurant, thanks to our association “Le Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte” and the rice producer, Riseria Ferron of Isola della Scala. The Association, as known, unites 12 historic wineries of the Amarone (Allegrini, Begali, Brigaldara, Masi, Musella, Nicolis, Speri, Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant’Antonio, Tommasi, Venturini e Zenato). Together with the Riseria, they have founded the company “Antica Bottega del Vino srl” of which the Association holds 60% and the Riseria 40%. The new company intends to re-open in January 2011 with its main objective to re-new the splendour of its best years.
The Amarone and the other fine wines of the Valpolicella will be the masters of the house but there will also be other famous labels from around the peninsula showing off on the shelves, as customary since the beginning of the wine restaurant. At the same time, the local cuisine will return creating the magic flavours of the city of Juliette, offering the best of that tasty and extremely varied traditional gastronomy that makes Verona one of the indisputable capitals of Italian taste.
Antonietta, Riccardo and I are very happy to be part of this initiative that we think is a true rescue of a piece of the city’s history. For us, it’s a little like sponsoring the restoration of a city monument and we are pleased and proud. Verona could not loose such and important wine restaurant, that for more than a century has been a great ambassador for wineries in our area. At the same time, thanks to all of the wonderful labels, it has become known to wine lovers all around the world. The rescue of Bottega del Vino on behalf of the Association “Le Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte” once again underlines the deep bond that the producers have with our territory, and our strong intentions to safeguard history and traditions.
