Torres Named 15th Most Powerful Wine Brand in the World

In the survey "The Power 100: The World's Most Powerful Spirits & Wine Brands", published in May 2007 at the "Decanter" website, one of the world's most prestigious wine magazines, Torres was considered as the first European Powerful Wine Brand at #15 on the list.

Of the top fourteen wine brands, there no Europeans: six were from the US, seven from Australia and one from Chile. "The Power 100", carried out by brand consultants "Intangible Business", is decided by market share, brand growth and price positioning - plus less tangible criteria such as brand awareness and perception. It looks at the entire drinks industry, among 10,000 different brands, from all over the world, from the major players to their individual brands and market segments.

And in the latest July 2007 issue of "Decanter", Miguel A. Torres is considered as the first Spanish winemaker and Bodegas Miguel Torres as the first family owned European winery in 19th position of the second biennial "Power List" among wine's 50 top power brokers. After the first "Power List" appeared in July 2005, at the beginning of 2007 "Decanter" asked dozens of international critics, merchants and wine insiders to give their opinion on who has the most influence in today's wine world. On the list you can find names like Robert Parker (#1), Michel Rolland (#8), Jancis Robinson (#9), Hugh Johnson (#17), Piero Antinori (#21), Oz Clarke (#46) and Al Gore (#48).

Miguel A. Torres has been credited with revolutionizing Spain's wine industry putting Catalonia on the map and championing local Catalan varieties.
