As is obvious from their name, dessert wines are best appreciated with desserts and other sugary foods, or alone. Because of their higher sugar content, dessert wines also tend to have a higher alcohol content than other wines.

Generally, white dessert wines are served slightly chilled and red dessert wines are served at room temperature or somewhat chilled.
