Dusted Valley and Boomtown by Dusted Valley - Washington State

145_dv_logo_blackonwhiteThis year Dusted Valley proudly celebrates their 13th anniversary of growing and crafting spectacular Washington State wine under the Dusted Valley and Boomtown by Dusted Valley labels. With strong roots in agriculture, brothers-in-law Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel focus their wine growing philosophies in the vineyard with sustainable practices, low (or modest) yields and minimalistic winemaking. The resulting wines offer a sense of place and showcase their estate vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley and other premier vineyards throughout the state.

Dusted Valley was founded on the notion that when family pulls together the American Dream can turn into a living reality. In 2003, these Wisconsin natives became the 52nd winery to “hang the shingle” and call the Walla Walla Valley home. Corey Braunel, winegrower and owner, represents the fourth generation of his family in agriculture, growing up on a ginseng farm in Northern Wisconsin. Chad Johnson, winegrower and owner, gained an appreciation and then a passion for the wonders of food and wine while working in the hospitality industry in Wisconsin. Janet Johnson and her sister, Cindy Braunel, grew up on their parent’s 250-acre dairy farm in northern Wisconsin. Janet, married to Chad, manages National Sales for the winery. Cindy, married to Corey, handles the administration and wine club details.

When Dusted Valley was created, the Johnsons and Braunels set out on an adventure - leaving behind their comfortable jobs to do something a little unconventional. And they haven’t looked back since. Their Boomtown brand gives them a way to share that passion for life with the world. Every bottle of Boomtown wine is an adventure. It’s an honest, handcrafted wine with complex flavors and bold character. It’s a real wine that comes
from a real place that has real heart. Their goal is to transport you, to inspire you, to remind you of what it’s like when you are somewhere doing something you love.

Quite simply, they make wines they like to drink. That’s why they are growing grapes and making wine in Washington State. Old world balance, structure, and earthiness meet the always fresh, new world fruit. For Dusted Valley wines, they source grapes from their estate vineyards on the Oregon and Washington side of the Walla Walla Valley and other great regions of Washington. They yield wines that are a true expression of the region’s terroir and a celebration of the people that help them grow and craft this art. Their use of old world techniques, innovative winemaking attitude, and Washington State’s perfect climate for growing grapes produce consistently stellar wines year after year.

WOY_2013-CMYKTheir close working relationships with winegrowers throughout the state allow them to guide the vineyard practices and control the winemaking process from start to finish. This ensures that what ends up in the bottle over-delivers time and time again.

Dusted Valley Named 2013 Wine & Spirits Magazine Winery of the Year

In 2013, Wine & Spirits’ panels and critics tasted 12,500 wines to select the 100 Wineries of the Year. They highlighted these producers as the top performers in their respective regions, from legendary names in Napa Valley and Burgundy to newcomers in New Zealand and Spain. Dusted Valley made the list for 2013 among some truly amazing producers.

BTLogoMapBoomtown by Dusted Valley offers varietal specific wines with one goal - to over deliver. In 2003, Wisconsin natives Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel left the comforts of their corporate jobs to move to Walla Walla and fulfill their dream of crafting world-class wine. Combining Washington State grapes with their rough and tumble know-how and a sizeable piece of their souls, the family created Dusted Valley and Boomtown.

A nod to the Dusted Valley family’s unquenchable thirst for adventure, Boomtown is crafted for all of those unafraid to step out and leave their comfort zones. Boomtown by Dusted Valley allows our family the opportunity to share a fantastic Dusted Valley wine with a larger audience. Winemakers, Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel, control the process from vineyard to bottle and source 100% of the fruit from Columbia Valley in Washington State.

At roughly 20,000 cases, Boomtown is available through fine restaurants and wine retailers throughout the country with current offerings include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
